Saturday Shopping - John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine

Now that I am back to brunette locks, I had to stock up on some brunette hair care products. I have always used the John Frieda Blonde range so thought I would test out the brunette version. What has drawn me to this is that it is supposed to add shine to your hair (which I think is vital for brunette hair) so I picked up the shampoo, conditioner and also the shine shock glosser.

I also need to dye my hair again as it has faded quite a bit and the blonde is starting to come through. I picked up the L’oreal Casting Crème Gloss in Chocolate truffle. Believe it or not my husband always dyes my hair for me, he trained as a hairdresser years ago, if it was left to me then the bathroom/my face would end up more brunette then my hair.

Maggie & Mojo Review Scruffychops

There’s something wrong when your dogs get more samples to try then you do and on this occasion Maggie & Mojo were sent some Scruffy Chops doggy cosmetics to try.

They were sent the Rhubarking Mad shampoo and Muddy Marvelous conditioner, both made from natural minerals.

The main to things that I look for in a doggy wash is that it doesn’t irritate the skin and also it leaves a nice smell on their fur. Both the shampoo and conditioner seemed to do this. The only down side is that the conditioner took a while to wash out

Overall they both smelt lovely for days! Which is unusual for filthy Mojo J and there was no scratching afterwards which is a good sign. I would now buy Scruffy Chops, well I have to make use of the discount voucher…

Whats in my Make-Up Bag?

Hands up if you love houndstooth print (both my arms are now in the air)
When I saw this make up bag I could not resist, it’s just the right size for a daily make up bag with too compartments, and best of all it’s a houndstooth print!

However, with it being fabric it is not exactly the best option for me, I am one of these `everything needs to be wipeable’ people as there are frequent spillages. I am sure that in the not too distant future this bag will become a black and BROWN print rather than black and white. Chuck it in the wash and it will go bobbley – nice

Ah well at least it looks nice for now J

Oskia Renaissance Mask - WIMH

Oskia is one of those brands which I have read about but have not ever been compelled to buy. So when I saw WIMH was giving away the Oskia Renaissance mask as this month’s `try’ I signed myself up to see if I would be lucky enough to receive a sample. To my delight I was sent a 15ml sample all neatly packaged with tissue paper labelled for Kim Taylor. I love receiving items in the post so this felt like a real treat when it arrived so beautifully!

Having received the sample I had a quick look on the Oskia website to read up about their products

Here is what Oskia have to say about the mask:
`Designed to increase cell turnover, boost radiance and packed with OSKIA’s trademark blend of beauty-boosting nutrients, this luxuriously-textured exfoliating mask leaves the complexion smoother, more refined and illuminated. Suitable for all skin types and with a fresh aromatic scent combining rose, passion fruit and chamomile, all organically certified, OSKIA’s Renaissance Mask works hard to remove tired skin cells and boost cell regeneration and ATP energy without aggressively stripping the top layers of the epidermis. Smoothes, softens, reduces the appearance of fine lines, imperfections and refines complexion’
What grabbed my attention is that it includes AHA’s (including passion fruit, lemon, papaya, grape and pineapple fruit acids) which act as gentle exfoliators to activate skin renewal. The enzymes from the AHA’s remove excess skin and cleanses congested pores. It also contains Butterbur which is a natural anti-histamine which soothes irritation and aids healing, sounds great for my spot prone skin.
The mask has a pinky/peach sorbet colour like that of Cliniques Moisture Surge. It has a thick gel like texture, different to other masks I have tried before, but actually feels quite creamy on the skin. To apply, you massage it into dry cleansed skin and leave it on for 10 minutes for sensitive skin and up to 20 for oily combination; I left it on for 15.
After the 15 mins, splash your face with water to activate the second stage which turns the mask into a creamy/milky texture and then rinse off. I liked how the mask changed when rinsing as this really left my skin feeling moisturised.
Once I had finished my skin looked clear and cleansed but not much different to any other mask. I was not until the next morning that I noticed a difference (I had applied at night) as my complexion did look a lot brighter and my pores were less visible.
I was actually quite surprised as the initial results were only OK and I was not expecting my skin to look much different in the morning.
For me, I think this is a mask which I would use once or twice a month as a brightening treatment and the pot I received has more than enough for another few applications.
Having tried the mask I am now intrigued to try other items from Oskia, mainly the Micro Exfoliating Balm.
Have you tried the Renaissance Mask or the Exfoliating Balm?

Saturday Shopping - L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Scrub & Amande Shower Oil

Having received great feedback about the L’Occitane hand creams that are in my 1000 follower giveaway (click HERE to enter) I thought I would give L’Occitane another go after my not so great experience with the brightening cream (see HERE)

While out and about today, I decided to pop into the L’Occitane store to see if there was anything else to tempt me into trying them again.

The ladies in store were lovely and so helpful; they even gave me a glass of wine while they showed me some of their products. They demonstrated a few items on my hands and I was drawn to the Ultra Rich Shea Body scrub and the Amande Shower Oil. I also loved the new One Minute Hand Scrub but I didn’t think I would use it enough to see a benefit.

So I have bought the scrub & oil, my decision to purchase has absolutely nothing to do with the glass of wine that I had (damn them with their alcoholic tactics)
I will write a review on these soon to let you know how I get on!

What are your favourite L’Occitane products?

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gelee Eyeshadow - Cyber Gold

Since falling in love with the Estee Lauder 5 tone shimmer powder, I have been meaning to try out other items from Estee range too, but where to start? Of course there is the much raved about Double Wear which I have been eager to try as it sounds ideal for my skin – I picked up a sample at the weekend as I am running low on foundation and need to buy some soon.  However I swatched the Gelee Pure Colour eyeshadows and was absorbed by the vibrant colours gleaming back up saying `buy me’

Naturally I did and opted for the Cyber Gold shade, I nearly went for the lilac but decided that the gold would suit the brown colour palette I am using at the moment and also it would go well with my new BRUNETTE locks (did I hear a gasp?)

The gelee can be worn dry over the lid or wet for a stronger colour which I used as a liner. It works well both wet and dry so it is quite a versatile product as you can create a number of different looks.

Is it worth £19? Yes, Would I buy another? I am heading to the John Lewis site now...(its 10% off on their site)
